There couldn't be a more perfect day for the Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival [on Post Street in San Francisco's Japantown], and it's even better than last year. There are lots of booths from non-profit/community service groups (alas, joined by disturbingly aggressive military recruiters this time around), free health screenings, commercial vendors, live music and entertainment, as well as the ever-popular food stands. (I recommend the Asian Firefighters' $5 BBQ beef short ribs + kim chee plate.)
The event continues tomorrow, and returns next weekend as well.
-> If you go, please sign Project Ride's petition to make the Festival smoke-free next year.
